"I am a third generation artist.  My grandfather was an illustrator and window display artist for Macy's dept. store in NYC in the 1930's.  After my mother received her BFA in 1952, she also headed for NYC and was a graphic artist and illustrator for Field and Beatty, a New York graphic art company.  As a child, books filled with color plates of the most famous artists surrounded me in the world.  Thanks to my mom's influence I knew who Mondrian and Picasso were before I entered grade school.  Of course, drawing and painting were my favorite subjects and I knew from early on that I would pursue a career in Art.  Shortly after graduating from Kutztown University with a BFA, I started painting and decorating antique trays for Nininger and Co. of Waterbury, CT.  These works are reproduction paintings from the various schools popular in the late 1700's - mid - 1800's. Each painting is surrounded by very intricate and ornate gold leaf borders.  Many of them are on display in the Design and Decoration Building in NYC.  I've painted several hundred trays over the last nineteen years, as well as painting and drawing for sheer pleasure."
